2K Games has revealed a $100 special edition of BioShock 2, with tons of bonus items, including posters, an artbook, and CD and vinyl soundtracks!

$100 BioShock 2 special edition announced

Most special editions aren't all that special--they include goofy items that are destined to collect dust in gamers' closets and provide little in the way of cool content that properly accompany the games. Modern Warfare 2 night vision goggles, I'm looking at you.

2K Games is bucking that trend, as it has announced via the Cult of Rapture blog that a $100 special edition BioShock 2 bundle will be available at launch (the bundle will be $90 on the PC). For $40 more than the normal price, you get three high-quality posters, a hardbound art book, a CD soundtrack of BioShock 2's orchestral score, and a vinyl record featuring the original game's orchestral score. All of the aforementioned items are included inside a box that also has the game itself, both with "special edition" boxart.

According to the Cult of Rapture, there will only be a single production run, meaning supplies will actually be limited, unlike the Halo 3 Master Chief helmet bundle, which cluttered store shelves for months after the game's release.

BioShock fans--will you be spending the extra $40 for the special edition?

oh and uh, the vinyl is what's gonna make this boxset. vinyls are worth more than what people realize.

Pass. That junk isn't worth 40 bucks.

its going to be worth more than you think. the vinyl is pressed on 180g, which is the highest quality of vinyl available to the average consumer, and doesn't degrade as fast as a regular vinyl. and its more expensive to produce, so the vinyl would probably cost $20 by itself.

$60 game + $20 vinyl = $80 already.

Actually Train of Thought...as someone married to a record store clerk, I can tell you most new vinyl is very closely priced to new CD releases' manufacturer suggest retail (what you see in music stores, not big chain discount stores like Target or Walmart) maybe only a couple dollars more. The additional value from this particular vinyl, will come from the fact you can only get it in this box set!

i think this is pretty cool. lot's of really great artwork included in this. i wish GoW3's special edition was more like this one. That pandora's box is a little strange...
