Katamari creator Keita Takahashi's bizarre interactive toy, first released on the PlayStation 3 as a downloadable title, should be in the iTunes App store any day now. The game has been enhanced with a number of iPhone and iPod Touch specific features.
Back in late January we posted a story about Noby Noby Boy creator Keita Takahashi demonstrating the iPhone version of his creation at an Apple store in Tokyo. This week, the fruits of his labor will be hitting the App store with a number of enhanced features designed specifically for the iPhone. In the new version of the game, you'll be able to make use of an in-game clock to schedule events, a memo pad to to scrawl notes on "BOY" as he grows, a music player that grabs songs and album art from your iTunes playlists, real-time video integration, and a web browser. You will also be able to utilize your iPhone camera to capture and mail images, the game will post updates to Facebook, and capture real-time GPS data to affect the growth of your game character.
The game has been submitted to Apple already, so it's just a matter of time before it appears in the App store's search.
The game is now available in the iTunes App store for $1.99 (iTunes link.)

I'm not buying it simply because it is not 3D. The original on the PS3 was 3D, and the iPhone can do 3D just as good, if not better than the PSP. So releasing a 3D game as a cheap 2D one is pure laziness and I will not support it. Even Katamari on the iPhone is 3D.
I am not saying 2D games are bad, not at all. I grew up in the age of 2D gaming and I have some pretty extensive A/B roots. However, this game was meant to be played in 3D, and this is just a cheap port.

I hope the length reporting feature crosses over with the PS3 version.
Also, nice Dig Dug music at the end. I hope whatever music included with the iPhone version (if any) also has Namco remixes like the original.
