EA Sports Active 2.0 announced for PS3, Wii, iPhone

Electronic Arts has confirmed a sequel to last year's popular fitness management sim, EA Sports Active, with EA Sports Active 2.0 for the Wii, PlayStation 3, iPhone, and iPod Touch.

EA Sports Active 2.0 promises an immersive wireless fitness experience, utilizing innovative leg and arm straps outfitted with motion sensors, as well as a new heart-rate monitor for in-depth exercise results. 2.0 will also introduce an online EA Active hub for tracking and sharing your exercise data and communicating with online workout groups.

According to the Tarrnie Williams, executive producer of EA Sports Active, EA Sports Active 2.0 “will define a new era of interactive fitness with the use of innovative motion sensor peripherals and a heart rate monitor that provide users with a fitness experience delivering real, measurable results."

How EA Sports Active 2.0 will utilize Sony's new motion controller, or if it will take advantage of the Wii MotionPlus accessory, is still unknown. EA Sports Active 2.0 is currently slated for a fall 2010 release.
