Earlier today, publisher Bethesda Softworks announced that Fallout: New Vegas, the latest installment in the iconic post-apocalyptic role-playing franchise, would be getting a swag-heavy collector's edition with its release later this year.

The Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition will come packed with a set of "Lucky 7" poker chips, each designed to represent one of the major casinos found throughout the game, a Fallout-themed deck of playing cards, a hardcover "All Roads Home" graphic novel written by New Vegas creative director Chris Avellone and published by Dark Horse Comics, and a "Making Of" DVD, chronicling the game's progression from concept to standalone continuation.

"We’re offering this very cool collector’s edition to give fans the opportunity to own some of the items that they’ll discover while playing Fallout: New Vegas,” said Pete Hines, Bethesda's vice president of PR and marketing. “We're also expanding their experience with the game by including a top-notch graphic novel worthy of the Fallout name and a DVD that gives them a behind-the-scenes look at how the game was created.”

Neither an official price point or release date for the collector's edition bundle has been announced yet, but the prospect of filling those cold, boring Wasteland nights with some exciting games of V.A.T.S.-heavy blackjack (V.A.T.S.jack?) is a tempting one.

I looked over the details twice on GameStop's website and honestly I don't see anything that say I have to buy the "collectors edition". I think I'm going to wait until the game of the year edition.

Don't get me wrong I love Fallout 3 and can't wait for this game but when the Fallout 3 GOTY came out I was pissed. What I mean by that is they had all the DLC's included for $60. I spent all the extra cash on those DLC's and I could have just waited.

Hell I haven't finished Point Lookout and Mothership. So I have more then enough Fallout to hold me over until Fallout: New Vegas GOTY comes out.
