Prototype by Activision for PC is an action game that drops you into New York City as a superhuman with the ability to shapeshift and steal other people's powers. A secret war in New York City is linked to Alex Mercer's past, and a conspiracy threatens the fate of mankind. This open-world action game features a "deceive or destroy" gameplay where players control Alex, a genetically mutated shape-shifter, who must decide upon unleashing these powers or blending in with the public.

Review: Prototype
For most of us, walking around a crowded metropolis is a hellish experience. Being surrounded on all sides by jostling people, honking cars and immense buildings can make you feel powerless and trapped. Prototype's virtual Manhattan also seethes with a veritable wall of humanity -- along with soldiers, infected creeps, and other menaces -- but Alex Mercer is anything but an ordinary pedestrian. For him, the madding crowd isn't an annoying fact of life: it's an all-you-can-eat buffet.
