I really, really wanted to like Conduit. The aiming is handled very well and is very precise, and some moments are flat out cool, but the game had to many flaws for me to really like it.

Let's get this out of the way right now: the story is awful. It revolves around some alien organization trying to take over the world and some spec ops soldier guy trying to save Earth. There is no sense of build up to some spectacular ending, and when you reach said ending, you kill dudes, watch a cutscene, watch the credits, you're done.

Then there's the AI. Man, those enemies are dumb. I saw an enemy soldier knock over an explosive barrel, hide behind it, then shoot it, blowing up the barrel and himself in the process. I hope to see far better AI in the sequel.

The All-Seeing Eye is lame as well. The idea is cool, but is poorly implemented, thus becoming no more than another annoying gimmick. It is used to alert you to hidden items and switches, and lights up and makes an annoying beeping sound when you're close. Then the beeping speeds up, and you run around like an idiot for 5 minutes searching for another useless item. Fun.

However, the game does have some good things. The motion control used to aim and turn is flawless. No other FPS has had aiming controls this smooth(except maybe Red Steel 2). The graphics are also fully customizable, so you can change every control if you want.

There are also a few cool moments, but those are few and far in between. If the good motion control was attached to a good game with nice graphics, an interesting story, and smart AI, I might say this was the best Wii game I've played in a long time. However, the game is just not good enough to deserve such high praise.

Pros: Amazingly smooth motion controls, a few really cool gameplay moments, fun multiplayer

Cons: Just about every other aspect of the game is broken.

The Conduit

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals
Engaging story
Tight controls

I picked up a used copy of the Conduit at Gamestop the other day and haven't played a shooter since Goldeneye but wanted to see what this game was like compared to said Goldeneye. The graphics are top notch and i haven't experienced too many games where a narrator tells you what to do step by step while playing the game but it was pretty cool.

I have to say i am not that into shooters because well I'm not sure why exactly. the conduit has a good story and is pretty engaging. I'm not going to say go out and get it because its not really my thing to play shooters and i don't know much about them. its worth renting though.

THERE WAS NO ENDING!!!!!! OMG i was so mad to find out nothing but that thers gona be a sequle. all in all it was fun but i really have to say rent it first.

Fantastic multiplayer Repetitive gameplay

I'm sure most of you have heard by now that The Conduit is an average shooter for the Wii with a cliche story, and repetitive gameplay. This information is mostly correct, but The Conduit does have some redeeming qualities. The story follows Mr. Ford and his fight to stop The Drudge from taking over Washington D.C., and all under a conspiracy theme. However, it can be predictable at points and feels all too familiar. The story does have some unexpected plot twists, but Mr. Ford just doesn't have enough character to him for the player to really care about his situation. The other characters in the story are more interesting, but not many background details are given about them, some of it to fuel a sequel. The story could have been much deeper had more background been given to the characters and if Mr. Ford had an actual personality. More cinematic cut scenes would have helped give life to the story. The acting is good, and the story serves its purpose as reason to kill things but doesn't do much else. The Conduits visuals are above average, but don't beat the likes of Metroid Prime 3. Guns and enemies are detailed, but environments are a little bland in some areas, primarily backgrounds and repeating hallways/corridors. Water and particle effects are great, and lighting is used in real time with the ASE. The music provides a good bit of atmosphere, and fits the action heavy gameplay. The main theme is very catchy but in a good way. Gameplay is pretty straight forward, you move through the levels alone shooting enemies and using the ASE to solve "puzzles" that don't usually amount to more than find the hidden switch(es). It's somewhat disappointing that the ASE wasn't used more creatively especially since it's a universal cipher and hacking device. Its importance to the story isn't revealed. Enemies are smart enough and use cover, but won't exactly bewilder the player with their strategic prowess and plan their moves carefully.Enemies continually spawn from conduits and egg sacs forcing players to get their priorities straight. Unfortunately, there aren't many enemy types which doesn't help the game seem less repetitive. The weapon selection is nice, and very balanced with no "garbage weapons" to be had. Everything in the arsenal is useful. The controls are excellent if time is spent to calibrate everything till it feels right; it took me about an hour to find a control scheme and settings I was absolutely comfortable with. Practically everything can be adjusted and customized with a few exceptions. The multiplayer supports up to twelve playes and is excellent-when it works. Like most Wii games it uses friend codes and getting friends to join you in random matches can be a hassle. There is little lag, but oftentimes I found myself being dropped from the match or getting caught in the crescent of death, a glitch that forces you to reset your console to escape or wait up to 20 minutes for the match to end. It is important to note that the connection at my home is almost always busy with something else along with online gaming. There are seven maps and quite a few game types including the standards like TDM and CTF, along with others like Shared Stock and Bounty Hunter. Wiispeak is compatible with The Conduit, but as of right now I have yet to test it. Players can earn XP and rank up to a maximum level of twenty-four and more XP is rewarded for kill streaks. Without leader boards to keep track of stats in the multiplayer there isn't much reason to come back back once reaching level twenty-four. However, those twenty-four levels should still provide quite a few good hours of entertainment. If you're a Wii only owner then The Conduit is most definitely worth a look, otherwise ignore it or give it rent.

Good, not great.

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Poor storytelling
Awesome audio Doesn't live up to expectations
Intense action
Innovative concepts

The Conduit had a lot to live up to.
1: delivering a good FPS to the Wii,
2:engaging us in the world they created,
and 3: keeping it Teen for a wider audience.

So the game has an excuse for the graphics to be bad on multiplayer, and for some control delays. But not for just a flat out confusing story. On their website, 1 month before the games release, they were giving away the story line.

In the end I had a freind tell me the ending, wich still did not make sense.

But on the other hand, the controls for single player were awesome, the graphics were the best on Wii and the audio was great.

All this, though still did not make up for the dissapointing and nongripping storyline wich did not even permit me to finish the final level.

In other words The Conduit did not live up to expectations, and was over all good, not great.

Fantastic multiplayer Terrible multiplayer

The Conduit is, by far, my favorite game on the wii. Customizable controls make gameplay so much easier and the online multiplayer kept my interest. The only things missing: A longer story mode and splitscreen multiplayer battles!

First off i apoligise for making this review so short. GAMEPLAY: The conduit's gameplay is truly inovative (for the wii anyways) it's alot like halo mixed with 007 goldeneye. The fast paced action keeps up well with the stories pace (although single player was very short) the game itself is a very good one and defidently a hallmark for the nintendo wii. As a wii owner i have to admit that the wii isn't the most "graphicly" developed system ever, hell some games graphics are down right ugly. But the conduit takes that problem and drop kick's it right in the face. GRAPHICS: The graphics are THE best ive seen on the wii thus far. It's nearly on par with ps3 or xbox 360. It's complete with bump mapping depth of feild motion blur and more. So anybody sriveing to find a good shooter on the wii The Conduit is best bet.

The Conduit- Wii

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Not enough content
Awesome audio Doesn't live up to expectations

Just plain fun

Is this or is this not one of the best shooters on wii? I think it is. Now I know there have been alot of reviews on this game already and some were negative. Even when I searched The Conduit in reviews the Gamepro staff writer guy's was negative. But I think this is an awesome game. It is based in the future and the main character's name is Michael Ford. You get to control him and try to save the world from the Drudge. (Aliens) You are helping a dude named Promethius and the setting is in Washington D.C. You basically have to stop the Drudge from taking over. They cab also take over TRUST members as puppets. Not a really good storyline. But what it lacks in story it makes up for in gameplay. The weapons are pretty awesome and there is nothing more fun then whooping some alien ass with their own weapons. The three main weapons are Trust weapons, Drudge weapons, and Human weapons. The weapons are pretty neat. I personally think that they should have put more blood and violence in it and made it Mature rated. It would have been way more fun to shoot someone in the head and watch the blood splatter over the wall behind them.

I am about half way through the game and I only played it for about two days. That is why I put not enough content, also there arent many alien types. They could have added more alien types that would be cool. One more thing it could of had multiplayer throught the story mode. But all in all this game is worth buying despite what some people say. If you don't already have it I would get it if i was you, and if you di have it tell me what you think of it. Well gotta go because I paused where I was to write this review. Damn its addictive.
